Fireworks are a surprisingly big deal in Richmond, KY. Fourth of July celebrations somehow manage to draw some serious crowds. And we know the best place to see a fireworks show this 4th of July, including where to watch, what to do before hand, and much more.
4th of July Celebration at Lake Reba
It is time to party! This year’s 4th of July Celebration at Lake Reba promises to be the best one yet. Guests will find incredible food, brand new attractions, and the hottest entertainment around. This year's live music opens with The Bent Penny Band, an award-winning rock group out of Lexington. The event headliner is Dallas Remington, one of the hottest up and coming acts in Nashville, scheduled to take the stage at 8:30 PM.
Celebrations are from 5:00 PM to 11:00 PM. Fireworks will start at 10:00 PM. Admission and parking will be free to all guests. We recommend arriving early to find parking and a great spot for the fireworks show.
Save 7% when you book a hotel near Lake Reba. Quality Inn Richmond is a little over 10 minutes away from Lake Reba. Our hotel is located right off Interstate 75, near restaurants and shopping centers.
Fourth of July Weekend at Fort Boonesborough
Campers can celebrate our nation's birthday with a fun filled weekend of patriotic activities in the Fort Boonesborough campground. They will have scheduled times for a camper decoration contest, crafts, free tours, hayrides, a parade and lots more. This event is for registered campers only, and it runs from July 3 - July 7. Visit the KY State Parks website to learn more.
Please Be Considerate of Others
While the Fourth of July might be a day for picnics, parades and fireworks, often forgotten are those who might not enjoy the loud and crowded celebrations.
For veterans, the Fourth of July can be a stressful day. From large crowd sizes, to the sudden flashes of light and sharp sounds, these noises and situations can trigger painful memories for those who were once combatants.
Please be considerate and do what you can to help make this holiday more enjoyable for them.
Fireworks can also cause anxiety in pets. We don't recommend bringing your dog along to any of the celebrations. If you leave them at home alone, then please leave the TV or radio on to drown out the fireworks noise. Whatever you do, don't leave your pets outside or in a vehicle for long periods of time. Keep them cool and away from the summer heat.
Firework Safety when using Legal Fireworks
Another thing to keep in mind while celebrating the holiday is firework safety. The National Council on Firework Safety aims to teach the public about the safe and responsible use of consumer fireworks. It offers some tips about how to stay safe this holiday season:
- Never let children handle fireworks
- Alcohol and fireworks don't mix
- Always have water on hand
- Wear eye protection when lighting fireworks
- Never relight a 'dud' firework. Wait 20 minutes, then soak in water.
- Never hold lit fireworks
- Don't point lit fireworks at people
- Follow local laws and ordinances about fireworks
- NEVER use illegal, homemade or professional fireworks. They're extremely dangerous!
We wish you a safe and fun 4th of July!
